LOOK WITH A DRIVER’S EYES
Use the inspection procedure required by your employer, vehicle manual, and applicable law. Check the equipment carefully and report defects through the correct process. The point is not to rush through a familiar routine. The point is to notice what is different: tire condition, leaks, lights, couplings, air lines, load security, warning messages, or any change in how the truck has been operating.
PROFESSIONAL DISCIPLINE STARTS BEFORE THE ROAD
The same driver who notices a change during inspection is more likely to notice a change in engine response, transmission behavior, braking feel, or fuel use on the road. That does not turn a driver into a mechanic. It gives the driver better information and a clearer reason to report an issue early.
Do not ignore a concern because the truck still moves. Follow company reporting rules and do not operate equipment that is unsafe or not permitted for service. Smart driving includes knowing the limits of your role.
